A couple of weeks back I posted this about a piece I had carved. It has gone through a few new phases, but first the piece in an outside context, followed by a further amendment – colouring in the carved letters. This helps the piece stand out when sunlight is not playing over the face. I use acrylic for outdoors; watercolour is adequate if the piece is to remain indoors. Since this item is sandstone you have to be careful when painting as the stone is very absorbent. It is possible to rub over the face with another piece of sandstone to tidy up any blemishes.
